A delegation led by Margareta Cederfelt, Chairperson of the India-Sweden Friendship Group in the Swedish Parliament, met with Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, in New Delhi. The meeting took place at the Parliament House Complex.
Harivansh Narayan Singh welcomed the delegation and praised the strong and friendly relations between India and Sweden. He highlighted the shared democratic values and growing collaborations in trade, investment, and technology. Since 2014, numerous high-level meetings, including those at the Prime Ministerial level, have taken place, reflecting the commitment of both nations to deepen their engagement.
India is a major trading partner for Sweden in Asia, with significant bilateral trade in goods and services. Harivansh acknowledged the long-standing presence of Swedish companies in India and their contributions to initiatives like "Make in India" and research and development. He encouraged more Swedish businesses to explore India's market and manufacturing ecosystem.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability and industrial decarbonization through the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT 2.0). The discussions emphasized collaboration in clean energy, green technology, and sustainable practices. Harivansh also appreciated the cultural ties, noting the popularity of Indian arts, yoga, and Ayurveda in Sweden, and the increasing number of Indian professionals and students in the country.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to foster closer parliamentary engagement and expand collaboration in various sectors. Harivansh extended his best wishes to the Swedish delegation for a productive visit, reaffirming the shared vision for a stronger partnership.
