1971 War Hero Wing Commander Devender Jeet Singh Kler Speaks on Bangladesh Crisis
Wing Commander Devender Jeet Singh Kler, a veteran of the 1971 war, shared his thoughts on the current situation in Bangladesh. He described the state of the country as heartbreaking and chaotic, stating that the unrest, which began as a student protest, has now been taken over by mobs. He mentioned that it is difficult to understand who is backing these mobs and suggested that there might be a conspiracy behind the ongoing unrest.
He emphasized that the demands of the students were justified and had been met, but the situation has escalated beyond their control. He suggested that only the army could restore order by imposing a curfew.
The political situation in Bangladesh remains unstable following the resignation of Sheikh Hasina amid escalating protests. These protests, initially driven by students demanding an end to the quota system for government jobs, have evolved into broader anti-government demonstrations. Sheikh Hasina has since arrived in India.
In response to the crisis, the Cabinet Committee on Security met at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence. The meeting included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, along with senior officials, to discuss the situation in Bangladesh.
