On August 16, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose expressed his concerns about the state government’s failure to maintain law and order. He highlighted a recent incident at RG Kar Hospital where an unidentified mob vandalized the campus, causing damage to the protest site, vehicles, and public property.

Governor Bose criticized the authorities for mishandling the situation and attempting to mislead the public by portraying the incident as a suicide. He emphasized the need for proper law and order and stated that the public’s confidence had been shaken.

In an interview, Governor Bose discussed the rape-murder of a PG trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. He blamed the government for failing to protect the dignity and safety of its citizens, particularly women. He called for a correction in the administration to restore public trust.

Bose also mentioned that the authorities had tampered with evidence and failed to take action against the perpetrators. He stressed the importance of listening to the demands of the youth for justice and not taking them for granted.

During his visit to the hospital, Governor Bose was informed by nursing students that they were threatened with rape by the miscreants. He described the incident as humiliating and depressing, highlighting the anarchy in the state.

The Calcutta High Court has transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Governor Bose expressed hope for justice from the judiciary. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Left and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of creating unrest in the state.

The Kolkata Police have arrested 25 people in connection with the vandalism. The CBI is currently investigating the rape-murder case, and four doctors from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have been summoned for questioning.
