Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh Visits India to Strengthen Ties with PM Modi
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh begins his three-day state visit to India today, invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, deputy ministers, and business leaders. The visit will conclude on August 1.
During his visit, PM Chinh will receive a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan and visit Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He will hold bilateral discussions with PM Modi, who will also host a luncheon in his honor. PM Chinh is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
Last week, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid respects to the late General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, in separate ceremonies. Doval represented India at the state funeral in Hanoi, while Singh visited the Vietnam Embassy in India to express condolences.
India and Vietnam share historical and civilizational ties, elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership during PM Modi’s visit to Vietnam in 2016. Vietnam is a key pillar of India’s Act East Policy and an important partner in its Indo-Pacific vision.
