Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Lays Foundation for New Bar Association Building in Dehradun
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the new Bar Association building in Dehradun. He also performed Bhoomi Pujan of the new building in the judicial complex.
CM Dhami congratulated all the advocates and called it a historic day. He mentioned that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the judicial infrastructure across India, including Uttarakhand, is being strengthened. Over the last ten years, the Modi government has spent more than Rs 8,000 crore on judicial infrastructure.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Central Government has implemented new laws to replace outdated British-era laws, enhancing the concept of justice. These new laws recognize electronic and digital records as strong evidence, aiding advocates in court.
CM Dhami emphasized the state government’s commitment to improving justice-related infrastructure. He noted that the demand for a new chamber building for the Dehradun Bar Association had been ongoing for a long time. After discussions with the All India Advocates Council, five bighas of land were allocated for the new building.
The new nine-story building will feature 1500 chambers, an auditorium, a library, a canteen, and parking facilities. CM Dhami assured full support for its construction.
He also mentioned the implementation of various laws like the anti-copying law, conversion law, and anti-riot law, which have helped Uttarakhand become known as a disciplined state with zero tolerance towards crime. The Uniform Civil Code is set to be implemented in the state before November 9, 2024.
