Uttar Pradesh Minister Anil Rajbhar Promises Action After Hathras Stampede Report
After a tragic stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, that resulted in the death of 121 devotees, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted its report. Cabinet Minister Anil Rajbhar assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
The SIT recommended suspending six officials for negligence and found the event organizers responsible for inviting more people than permitted. The government is taking steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
Details of the Incident
The stampede occurred during a religious ‘Satsang’ event organized by self-styled godman Suraj Pal, also known as ‘Bhole Baba,’ in Fulari village, Hathras, on July 2. The SIT, led by ADG Zone Agra and the Divisional Commissioner of Aligarh, inspected the site and recorded 119 statements.
Officials Held Responsible
The SIT found the local SDM, CO, Tehsildar, Inspector, and Chowki in charge responsible for negligence. The suspended officials include:
- Sub-District Magistrate of Sikandrarao
- Police Circle Officer of Sikandrarao
- Station Officer of Sikandrarao
- Tehsildar of Sikandrarao
- Chowki Incharge of Kachora
- Chowki Incharge of Pora
The report highlighted that the Sub-district Magistrate granted permission for the event without inspecting the venue and did not inform senior officials.
Government’s Response
Minister Anil Rajbhar emphasized that the government is committed to preventing such accidents in the future and will take necessary actions against all culprits.
