US President Joe Biden Announces $2.5 Billion Security Aid for Ukraine
On Monday, US President Joe Biden revealed a new security assistance package to support Ukraine's defense needs. This package, valued at $1.25 billion, includes missiles for air defense, munitions for rocket systems, artillery, and anti-tank weapons. Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the US's commitment to Ukraine, stating that over 50 nations stand united with Ukraine.
Additionally, the Department of Defense announced a $1.22 billion Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) package. This package aims to enhance Ukraine's air defense and other capabilities to counter Russian aggression. This marks the Biden Administration's 23rd USAI package and 73rd equipment tranche for Ukraine since August 2021.
The US, alongside 50 allies, continues to support Ukraine through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. The White House expressed pride in providing nearly $2.5 billion in security assistance, reinforcing Ukraine's fight for independence and freedom against Russian aggression. The aid includes both immediate and long-term supplies of critical weapons systems.
