Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Reviews Flood Relief in Dibrugarh, Assam

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal rushed to Dibrugarh, Assam, to assess the flood situation and review relief operations. He visited several affected areas including Graham Bazaar, AT Road, HS Road, RKB Path, Mancotta Road, Thana Chariali, and Jhalukpara. He also inspected embankment sites at Tengakhat and Hatibandha.

At a relief camp in Tengakhat, Sonowal evaluated the condition of flood-affected individuals and the material damage. He instructed the District Commissioner to maintain cleanliness in the camps and ensure medical treatment, especially for the elderly, women, and children. He also directed officials to expedite relief and rescue operations.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Indian Army, and Indian Air Force are collaborating with the district administration for relief efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation and taking regular updates.

Sonowal emphasized the need for urgent embankment repairs and financial relief for those affected. He was accompanied by local officials including MLA Prashanta Phukan, Minister Teras Gowala, ATDC Chairman Rituparna Baruah, District Commissioner Bikram Kairi, Mayor Saikat Patra, and Deputy Mayor Ujjwal Kashyap.
