New Delhi, India – Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has called for a detailed investigation into allegations made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu claimed that the previous YSRCP government used substandard ingredients and animal fat in making the Tirupati laddu, a sacred sweet offered at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati.

Serious Allegations

Joshi emphasized the seriousness of the matter, stating, “Whatever the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said is a very serious matter, it should be investigated in detail and whoever is guilty should be punished.”

Lab Report Findings

TDP spokesperson Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy cited a lab report alleging that beef tallow, animal fat, lard, and fish oil were used in the preparation of ghee supplied to Tirumala. He stated, “The lab reports of samples that were sent for testing to the National Dairy Development Board in Gujarat certify that beef tallow and animal fat, lard, and fish oil were used in the preparation of ghee that was supplied to Tirumala and also the S value is only 19.7. The Hindu religion is offended by this.”

Temple Priest’s Concerns

Ramana Deekshitulu, a priest at the Tirumala temple, also raised concerns about the quality of ghee used in the prasad. He mentioned that he had noticed impurities in the ghee many years ago and had reported it to the authorities, but no action was taken. He expressed hope that the new government would rectify the situation.

Government’s Response

Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh shared a video clip of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu discussing the issue. Lokesh expressed his shock and criticized the YSRCP government for allegedly using animal fat instead of ghee in the Tirupati Prasadam. He stated, “Shame on YS Jagan and the YSR party government that couldn’t respect the religious sentiments of crores of devotees.”

Denial of Allegations

Former TDP Chairman and YSRCP leader YV Subbareddy denied the allegations, claiming that only organic ingredients were used in the preparation of the Prasadam. He called the allegations vile and misleading.
