Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar Condemns Police Action at Shri Muthyalamma Devi Temple Protest
In Hyderabad, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticized the police for using force against protestors at the Shri Muthyalamma Devi temple. The Telangana Police had used lathi charge to disperse a large crowd protesting the alleged vandalism of the temple idol. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal called for a statewide ‘bandh’ to protest attacks on Hindu temples in Telangana, with several Hindu organizations supporting the cause. These protests highlight concerns over the safety of Hindu temples in the state.
VHP National Spokesperson Vinod Bansal announced protests across all district centers in Telangana. Hyderabad has seen two incidents of idol vandalism, sparking protests from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other groups. The first incident involved a Durga idol at Nampally Exhibition Grounds, which police attributed to a vagabond searching for food. The second incident at the Muthyalamma temple led to widespread protests. An individual named Salman Salim Thakur was apprehended and identified as the suspect. BJP leaders are demanding an NIA investigation into the case.
