Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Visits Flood-Hit Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), September 6: As floods continue to affect Andhra Pradesh, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is on a two-day visit to the flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He is meeting with affected farmers in Vijayawada and Khammam and conducting an aerial survey of the damage.

Chouhan, along with State Minister Nara Lokesh, interacted with locals in Vijayawada to assess the situation. They reported significant crop damage, affecting 2 lakh farmers. Later, Chouhan held a press conference with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, describing the situation as unprecedented.

Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, stated that NDRF teams have rescued 350 people and evacuated 15,000 in Andhra Pradesh, and rescued 68 and evacuated 3,200 in Telangana. The IAF and Navy helicopters have delivered 71,000 kgs of food and relief materials in Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the priority of protecting lives and property. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan announced the use of drones to deliver food and water and donated Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister Relief Fund.
