Uday Bhanu Chib Appointed as New President of Indian Youth Congress
New Delhi [India], September 22: Uday Bhanu Chib, the former chief of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress, has been appointed as the new president of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC). The announcement was made by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal.
“Hon’ble Congress President has appointed Shri Uday Bhanu Chib, currently General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and former President of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress, as the President of the Indian Youth Congress, with immediate effect,” said Venugopal.
The IYC expressed their congratulations to Chib and thanked the outgoing president BV Srinivas for his exceptional leadership. On Friday, Chib posted a picture with Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, and praised his efforts for social justice.
Earlier this month, Chib participated in a road show for National Congress candidate Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, who is running for the Jammu North assembly seat. Jammu and Kashmir is currently voting in its 90-member assembly elections, with the first phase of voting registering a 61.13% turnout. The second and third phases will be held on September 25 and October 1, respectively, with votes to be counted on October 8.
These elections are the first since the abrogation of Article 370 and are being held after nearly a decade in the Union Territory. The NCP and Congress have formed a pre-poll alliance for these elections.
