As the world prepares for COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Abdulla Al Balalaa, UAE's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainable Affairs, shared details about the UAE's participation. The UAE will have a national pavilion and plans over 60 dialogues and announcements during the event.
Al Balalaa emphasized the importance of COP29, marking a year since the UAE Consensus was achieved, aiming to keep global warming within 1.5°C. He stated, "The UAE remains committed to collaborations needed to raise ambitions and accelerate the global energy transition."
The UAE Pavilion, located in the Blue Zone, will host climate experts, government officials, and youth for thematic programs. Topics include climate finance for the Global South, decarbonization, AI in food systems, and global partnerships like AIM4Climate.
The pavilion will also focus on empowering youth in climate policymaking, planning for the 2026 UN Water Conference, and urban-planning circular cities. The full schedule is available at www.uaeclimate.com.
Entitled "Accelerating Action Together," the pavilion will showcase the UAE's climate journey, highlighting the UAE Consensus, COP28 legacy, and progress in biodiversity and climate finance. The event runs from November 12 to November 21, 2024.
