The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has achieved a significant milestone by securing the Presidency of the Arab Parliament. This was announced during the procedural session of the fourth legislative term held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. Mohammed Ahmad Al Yamahi, a member of the UAE’s Federal National Council (FNC), was elected as the President of the Arab Parliament.

The UAE, represented by the FNC Parliamentary Division, has previously held the presidency for two consecutive terms from 2012 to 2016. This achievement highlights the effective role of Emirati parliamentary diplomacy and its contributions to the Arab Parliament’s activities since its inception.

In his statement, Al Yamahi expressed gratitude for the support from the UAE’s leadership, including President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He emphasized that this accomplishment adds to the UAE’s exemplary track record under the guidance of its leadership.

At the FNC Parliamentary Division level, the UAE was elected Deputy President of the Arab Parliament in 2020. Additionally, members of the FNC chaired the Committees on Financial and Economic Affairs and the Committee on Social, Educational, Cultural, Women, and Youth Affairs.
