UAE Celebrates International Youth Day

On August 12, the UAE will join the world in celebrating International Youth Day under the theme: ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development’. This day highlights the importance of youth in global society and the need for their engagement in sustainable development.

Empowering Youth in the UAE

The UAE has made significant strides in empowering its youth, guided by the vision of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He emphasizes the importance of preparing youth with future skills and sciences, considering them as the pillars of development and leaders of tomorrow.

National Youth Agenda 2031

In May 2024, the UAE Cabinet approved the National Youth Agenda 2031. This agenda aims to empower young Emiratis to be role models both regionally and globally. It focuses on five main pillars: contributing to national economic growth, adhering to Emirati values, driving global positive change, mastering future skills, and enjoying high quality of life.

Initiatives and Programs

The UAE has launched various initiatives to support youth, including mandatory inclusion of young Emiratis in federal government boards, Youth Councils, and the UAE Government Leaders Programme. The Arab Youth Center, launched in 2017, supports innovation and creativity among young Arabs.

Space Sector Involvement

In July 2020, the UAE launched the Arab Space Pioneers’ Programme, a three-year training program to equip young Arab talents with skills for careers in space technologies.

These efforts reflect the UAE’s commitment to empowering its youth and ensuring their active participation in the country’s development.
