UAE and Côte d’Ivoire Leaders Discuss Stronger Parliamentary Ties in Geneva

In Geneva, Switzerland, Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) of the UAE, met with Adama Bictogo, President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire. This meeting took place during the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The leaders discussed enhancing cooperation between their countries’ legislative bodies, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations.

They highlighted the need for coordination in international and Islamic parliamentary meetings and expressed a desire to activate parliamentary friendship groups. The discussion also focused on expanding cooperation in economic, trade, and cultural sectors, with a special emphasis on agriculture and industry.

The UAE’s role in infrastructure projects in Côte d’Ivoire, such as roads, ports, and airports, was acknowledged, along with collaboration in renewable energy projects. Both sides stressed the importance of joint engagements to address regional challenges and achieve security and stability through international legal means.

Several members of the UAE Parliamentary Division Delegation attended the meeting.
