Two Killed in Poll Duty Vehicle Accident in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir

Two people lost their lives and one person was injured when a poll duty vehicle met with an accident near Tuksan in the Gulabgarh area of Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir. The accident happened on Tuesday, according to an official statement from DC Reasi.

The incident occurred just before the second phase of assembly elections, which will take place on September 25. Elections will be held for 26 assembly seats across six districts, including Kangan, Ganderbal, Hazratbal, Khanyar, Habbakadal, Lal Chowk, Channapora, Zadibal, Eidgah, Central Shalteng, Budgam, Beerwah, Khansahib, Chrar-i-Sharief, Chadoora, Gulabgarh, Reasi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Kalakote – Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajouri, Budhal, Thannamandi, Surankote, Poonch Haveli, and Mendhar.

This phase of elections will determine the future of notable candidates such as former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is contesting from Budgam and Ganderbal, BJP chief Ravinder Raina from Nowshera, and Congress leader Tariq Hamid Karra from Central-Shalteng.

The first phase of voting, held on September 18, saw a voter turnout of 61.13% across 24 constituencies in seven districts. The second and third phases of voting are scheduled for September 25 and October 1, respectively, with vote counting set for October 8, alongside the counting of votes in Haryana.
