Incident Details
On Tuesday, four elephants from a herd of 13 were found dead, and four others were ill. Forest officials identified the herd and began treatment for the sick elephants. Unfortunately, three more elephants died on Tuesday night, and another on Wednesday.
Official Response
The Madhya Pradesh Forest Department confirmed the deaths on their official social media, stating that two elephants have recovered, and two remain healthy. A post-mortem is being conducted by veterinarians from various wildlife reserves.
Investigation Underway
A team led by the STSF head, along with a dog squad, is investigating the case. A committee from the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau in New Delhi is also involved.

The Congress party has accused the Forest Department of negligence and demanded the resignation of the Forest Minister. Congress spokesperson Abbas Hafeez expressed concern over the department's carelessness, highlighting the low number of elephants in the region.
