Tragic Electrocution Incident in Jalpaiguri: Four Family Members Die

In Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, a tragic incident occurred on Friday evening, resulting in the deaths of four family members due to electrocution. The victims were Paresh Das (60), his wife Dipali Das (55), their son Mithun Das (32), and their two-and-a-half-year-old grandson, Subrata Adhikari.

The incident happened when Paresh Das tried to rescue a cow that was being electrocuted by a live wire at their home in the Gajoldoba area. Unfortunately, Paresh was electrocuted in the process. His wife, son, and grandson also lost their lives while trying to save each other.

Local residents quickly called the fire department and police. The victims were rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where doctors confirmed their deaths. Shama Parveen, the District Magistrate of Jalpaiguri, confirmed the deaths and mentioned that preliminary reports suggest illegal hooking as the cause of the incident. Illegal hooking involves taking electricity without permission by connecting wires directly to power lines, which is extremely dangerous.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway.
