In Darjeeling, West Bengal, six people lost their lives when a car rammed into them at Muni tea estate near Bagdogra in Phansidewa block. The victims were participating in the ‘Kanwar yatra’ and were on their way to the ‘Janglibaba’ temple to offer Jal Abhisekham. According to ACP Siliguri Metropolitan police Debasish Bose, the accident happened on Monday morning.

Jagannath Roy, Panchayat Pradhan of Heatmuri Singhijhora Gram Panchayat, explained that the group of 12 pilgrims was walking when the car hit six of them from behind, killing them on the spot. The police arrived and sent the bodies to the hospital.

In another incident in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, five devotees were killed and one seriously injured when a truck hit them in front of the Mahamaya temple in the Kachugaon area. The victims were participating in the Bol Bom yatra and had come to the temple to offer Jal Abhishekam. Pushpraj Singh, Superintendent of Police of Kokrajhar district, confirmed the deaths and stated that the truck driver has been apprehended.
