In Patna, Bihar, a tragic incident has unfolded with the death of 20 people due to the consumption of spurious liquor. A grieving mother shared her sorrow, stating that her only son died after consuming the tainted alcohol, leaving behind his wife and children.

Political Controversy Erupts

The tragedy has sparked political controversy, with the opposition party Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) criticizing the Nitish Kumar government. RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari questioned how spurious liquor was available despite a state-wide ban, blaming the government for the deaths in Siwan.

RJD MLA Bhai Birendra accused the government of being involved with liquor mafias and called for action and compensation for the victims’ families. Siwan Councillor Sushil Kumar Dablu alleged that the administration was covering up the true extent of the tragedy, claiming the death toll was nearing 50.

Government Response

Bihar Excise Minister Ratnesh Sada expressed solidarity with the victims’ families and assured that the culprits would be punished. He reported that 22 people are receiving treatment, with some losing their eyesight, and confirmed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to address the issue.
