Telangana Government to Establish Yarn Depot in Vemulawada
The Telangana government has announced plans to set up a Yarn Depot in Vemulawada, located in the Rajanna Sircilla District. This initiative aims to support the Powerloom sector, with the Telangana State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society Limited (TGSCO) acting as the nodal agency.
The Commissioner of Handlooms & Textiles and Apparel Export Parks in Hyderabad proposed this project, requesting the government to issue necessary orders and allocate a corpus fund of Rs 50 crores. This fund will be used for procuring yarn and maintaining buffer stocks at the depot.
Sircilla is recognized as a significant textile zone, with numerous power looms providing employment to many workers. The decision was confirmed in a notice by Shailaja Ramaiyer, Principal Secretary of Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts, Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Telangana. The notice stated that the government has approved the establishment of the Yarn Depot and the allocation of funds from the Special B.C Welfare Budget.
The order for the budget sanction will be issued separately, and the Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles and AEPS, Hyderabad, will oversee the necessary actions to implement this project.
