Team India reached Sri Lanka on Wednesday ahead of the Women’s Asia Cup, which starts on Friday. The defending champions, India, will begin their journey towards a record-extending eighth Asia Cup title by facing arch-rivals Pakistan at Dambulla on Friday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of team members, including Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Varma, Renuka Singh, Shreyanka Patil, and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, enjoying their flight from Chennai to Dambulla.

The 15-match tournament features teams from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, UAE, Thailand, and Nepal. India and Pakistan are in Group A with Nepal and UAE, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on July 26, with the final set for July 28 in Dambulla.

Leading up to the Women’s Asia Cup, Team India has had significant on-field success, including a 3-0 ODI series win against South Africa and a 5-0 T20I series win against Bangladesh. These matches are crucial for India’s preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October in Bangladesh.
