TDP’s Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram Criticizes YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Over Temple Visit Controversy
In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, TDP spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram criticized YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his planned visit to the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple. Ram accused Reddy of committing an ‘unforgivable sin’ and claimed that ‘Lord Balaji will not forgive him even if he climbs up the seven hills on his knees.’
Ram’s comments come amid a controversy over the Tirupati Prasadam. Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu alleged that substandard ingredients, including animal fat, were used in the preparation of Tirupati laddus during the previous YSRCP government. Naidu emphasized that signing a declaration is a custom for non-Hindus who wish to have darshan of Lord Balaji.
Ram stated, ‘You will not be allowed to go into the temple if you don’t sign the declaration. All these years you have gone into the temple without signing the declaration. We all know that you are a believer in Christianity which we don’t have any problem with.’
The controversy stems from Reddy’s Christian faith and previous instances of not signing the declaration. The TDP and other opposition parties have criticized Reddy’s actions, with Naidu calling it a ‘spiritual breach.’
In response, the YSRCP accused Naidu of spreading misinformation about Tirumala’s sacred laddu prasadam being adulterated with animal fat, hurting devotees’ sentiments. The party urged devotees to participate in temple poojas on September 28 to restore Tirumala’s sanctity.
YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took to social media, urging people to stand against Naidu’s false claims. The YSRCP claimed that Naidu’s actions, driven by political motives, deeply hurt devotees’ sentiments.
Meanwhile, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) clarified that the rumour about a tobacco pouch in the sacred Laddu Prasadam is ‘untrue.’ The Chief Public Relations Officer stated that the laddus are prepared by Sri Vaishnava Brahmins with utmost devotion and under CCTV surveillance.
