Tamil Nadu BJP Leaders Meet Governor RN Ravi Over Kallakurichi Hooch Tragedy
A group of Tamil Nadu BJP leaders, led by state president K Annamalai, met Governor RN Ravi at Raj Bhavan to discuss the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy, which has claimed 57 lives so far.
AIADMK Protest
Leaders of the AIADMK party, led by Opposition Party leader and General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami, held a protest in Kallakurichi district against the DMK-led state government. The protest took place opposite the VAS Marriage Hall on Salem Main Road.
Casualties and Treatment
The number of deaths due to illicit liquor consumption has risen to 57. A total of 156 people are receiving treatment at various government hospitals, with 110 at Kallakurichi Government Medical College, 12 in Puducherry, 20 in Salem, and 4 in Viluppuram. Seven people have been discharged after treatment.

Government Support
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced that the state government will cover the education and hostel expenses of children who lost one or both parents in the tragedy. Children who lost both parents will receive Rs 5,000 monthly assistance until age 18, and Rs 5 lakh will be deposited in their names. Children who lost one parent will receive Rs 3 lakh as a fixed deposit. Priority will be given to these children in all government welfare schemes.
