Taiwan Monitors Chinese Aircraft and Naval Vessels Near Its Territory
On Saturday, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence reported the detection of one Chinese aircraft and six naval vessels near the island by 6 am. The Ministry shared this update on X, stating that the Republic of China Armed Forces have been monitoring the situation closely.
Earlier on Friday, the Ministry detected seven Chinese aircraft and five naval vessels. Notably, five of these aircraft crossed the median line, entering Taiwan's northern and southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The Ministry assured that they have responded accordingly to these movements.
In recent weeks, China has been enhancing its naval capabilities, including the launch of a large landing helicopter assault vessel and the production of floating bridge docks. These developments suggest China's serious intentions regarding a potential invasion of Taiwan.
The Taiwan-China issue is a longstanding geopolitical conflict. Taiwan, known as the Republic of China (ROC), functions as an independent state with its own government and military. However, China views Taiwan as a breakaway province and adheres to the "One China" policy, aiming for reunification.
