Taiwan Detects Chinese Military Activity
On February 15, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence (MND) reported the detection of 19 aircraft from the People's Liberation Army (PLA), eight vessels from the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), and one official ship near Taiwan. Of these, 15 aircraft crossed the median line into Taiwan's northern and southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). A Chinese balloon was also spotted during this time.
The MND shared this information on social media, emphasizing the presence of these military assets around Taiwan.
China's Stance on Taiwan
Following the passage of two US ships through the Taiwan Strait, China reiterated its stance on Taiwan. Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, stated that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory and criticized any actions that challenge China's sovereignty under the guise of freedom of navigation.
China has recently enhanced its amphibious assault capabilities with new naval equipment, including an advanced landing helicopter assault vessel and floating bridge docks for beach landings.
