Supreme Court Grants Bail to Arvind Kejriwal: AAP Leaders Criticize BJP and Modi Government

New Delhi, India – The Supreme Court has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case. This decision has led to strong reactions from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, who have accused the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government of a ‘premeditated conspiracy’ to arrest Kejriwal.

Manish Sisodia’s Statements

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, expressed relief and joy over the Supreme Court’s decision. He stated that the judgement assures that only the Constitution will govern the country. Sisodia accused the BJP of using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as ‘caged parrots’ to target Kejriwal. He emphasized that the Supreme Court’s judgement exposes the BJP’s misuse of these agencies.

Quotes from Manish Sisodia

‘This judgement is not only important for us but for all citizens. The SC’s order has given an assurance that if someone is a dictator or misusing the agencies, then the Constitution of India is there to protect and only the Constitution will run the country,’ said Sisodia.

‘The SC has given a message to the BJP that they have to stop their dictatorship. The SC has said that the BJP is misusing the agencies and has made them their caged parrot,’ he added.

Sanjay Singh’s Remarks

AAP leader Sanjay Singh also criticized the BJP, claiming that the party’s ‘mountain of lies’ has been demolished. He accused the Modi government of using the ED and CBI to spread false information and arrest Kejriwal on fabricated charges.

Quotes from Sanjay Singh

‘We have been saying this since day 1 that this whole matter is based on false facts, and the Modi government, the dictatorial regime that used ED and CBI to present false facts, is responsible for spreading these false facts,’ said Singh.

‘Today, the release of Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal has exposed the BJP, and their mountain of lies has been demolished,’ he added.

Background of the Case

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering probe related to the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22. On June 26, 2024, he was arrested by the CBI while in ED custody. The Supreme Court’s recent decision to grant him bail has been seen as a significant victory for AAP and its supporters.
