Sumit Antil Wins Gold at Paris Paralympics

New Delhi, India – President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sumit Antil for winning the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw F64 event at the Paris Paralympics. Sumit, who also won gold at the Tokyo Paralympics, broke the Paralympic record twice during the event. His first throw was 69.11m, surpassing his previous record of 68.55m. He then set a new record with a throw of 70.59m.

President Murmu’s Congratulations

President Murmu praised Sumit for his back-to-back Paralympics gold medals and record-breaking performances. She said, “I convey my heartiest congratulations to Sumit Antil on winning the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. His outstanding achievements will inspire countless people, especially the youth.”

Prime Minister Modi’s Message

Prime Minister Modi also congratulated Sumit on X, saying, “Exceptional performance by Sumit! Congratulations to him for winning the Gold in the Men’s Javelin F64 event! He has shown outstanding consistency and excellence. Best wishes for his upcoming endeavours.”

Other Indian Achievements

President Murmu also congratulated para-shuttler Suhas Yathiraj for winning a silver medal in men’s singles badminton at the Paris Paralympics, repeating his success from Tokyo. She praised his skills, fitness, and resilience.

Additionally, shuttler Nitesh Kumar won a gold medal in the men’s singles SL3 category. President Murmu also congratulated Thulasimathi Murugesan and Manisha Ramadass for winning silver and bronze medals, respectively, in women’s singles badminton events.
