Paris [France], September 4: Indian para-shuttler Suhas Yathiraj won a silver medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Suhas expressed his pride in representing India and shared his hopes for winning more than 25 medals this time, aiming for over 100 medals when India hosts the Paralympics in the future.

Men’s Singles SL4 Category

In the men’s singles SL4 category, Suhas Yathiraj faced France’s Lucas Mazur. Suhas lost in straight sets with scores of 9-21 and 13-21. Despite the defeat, Suhas felt proud of his achievement and the opportunity to compete at the Paralympics.

Other Indian Para-Shuttlers

Sukant Kadam, another Indian para-shuttler, competed for the bronze medal but lost to Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan with scores of 17-21 and 18-21.

Women’s Singles SU5 Category

In the women’s singles SU5 category, Thulasimathi Murugesan won a silver medal after losing to China’s Yang Qiu Xia. Manisha Ramadass secured a bronze medal by defeating Denmark’s Cathrine Rosengren with scores of 21-12 and 21-8.

Gold Medal Success

India also celebrated a gold medal win in para-badminton. Nitesh Kumar defeated Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell in the men’s singles SL3 category with scores of 21-14, 18-21, and 23-21. Nitesh’s victory added to India’s medal tally, following shooter Avani Lekhra’s gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final.
