Paris Paralympics: Suhas Yathiraj Wins Silver Again, Nitesh Kumar Shines with Gold
Indian para-shuttler Suhas Yathiraj once again secured a silver medal at the Paris Paralympics, similar to his performance in Tokyo three years ago. Competing in the men’s singles SL4 category, Suhas was defeated by France’s Lucas Mazur in straight sets, 9-21, 13-21.
In the same event, Sukant Kadam missed out on a bronze medal after losing to Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan. Despite showing determination, Sukant lost both sets 17-21 and 18-21.
In the women’s singles SU5 category, Thulasimathi Murugesan won a silver medal after losing to China’s Yang Qiu Xia. Manisha Ramadass secured a bronze medal by defeating Denmark’s Cathrine Rosengren with scores of 21-12, 21-8.
India celebrated a gold medal victory in para-badminton as Nitesh Kumar triumphed over Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell in the men’s singles SL3 category. Nitesh’s thrilling match ended with scores of 21-14, 18-21, 23-21, adding to India’s medal tally alongside shooter Avani Lekhra’s gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final.
