Special Trains for Maharashtra Elections
Enhanced Connectivity for Election Days
In preparation for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Central Railway is introducing special suburban trains to assist election personnel and the public. These trains will operate on November 19-20 and November 20-21, covering the Main Line (CSMT-Kalyan) and Harbour Line (CSMT-Panvel).
Train Schedules
On November 19-20, special trains will run from CSMT to Kalyan, CSMT to Panvel, and Panvel to CSMT. On November 20-21, the CSMT-Kalyan Special, Kalyan to CSMT, and CSMT to Panvel trains will be available. All trains will stop at every station between CSMT-Kalyan and CSMT-Panvel.
Political Context
The Mahayuti alliance, consisting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, will face the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, and Sharad Pawar-led NCP. The elections are scheduled for November 20, with vote counting on November 23.
Previous Election Results
In the 2019 elections, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, BJP secured 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42.
