Space Kidz India and Northern UNI of Sri Lanka Collaborate on Student Satellite Launch

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India – Space Kidz India, led by Founder and CEO Srimathy Kesan, has partnered with Northern UNI of Sri Lanka to launch a student-built satellite with ISRO’s help by the end of next year. This collaboration aims to involve students from both countries, promoting the idea of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ which means ‘the world is one family.’

Borderless Space and Educational Opportunities

Srimathy Kesan emphasized the borderless nature of space and the importance of this timely collaboration between India and Sri Lanka. Space Kidz India, known for its 27 space missions, seeks to extend opportunities beyond Indian students, involving Sri Lankan students as well.

Project Details and Training

The project, named Northern UniSat, will be a single-use satellite. Students will learn about space essentials, such as water’s importance and necessary sensors. The training will start online and later move offline, with educators traveling to Sri Lanka and students visiting India for hands-on experience.

Support and Funding

The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Education in Sri Lanka and funded by Northern UNI’s CSR program. Prafulla Kumara, Director at In-Space, expressed India’s eagerness to support such collaborations.
