Shivraj Singh Chouhan Criticizes Opposition and Highlights Farmer Support Schemes

New Delhi, August 5: Union Minister for Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, criticized opposition leaders in the Rajya Sabha for not prioritizing farmers. He emphasized the success of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi’ scheme, which provides Rs 6000 to small farmers, making them self-reliant and respected.

Chouhan accused the Congress of neglecting farmers and cited incidents where farmers were killed during Congress rule. He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always prioritized farmer welfare.

Chouhan also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for making a ‘reel’ with farmers in Sonipat, calling it a drama. He assured farmers that the Modi government will continue to provide affordable fertilizers, detailing significant subsidies on urea and Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP).

Chouhan highlighted that the government has increased fertilizer subsidies from Rs 71,280 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 1,95,420 crore in 2023-24, ensuring that farmers are not burdened by increased prices due to international conditions.
