Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Amit Shah Gear Up for Jharkhand Elections

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], September 21: As the Jharkhand Assembly election approaches, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the Bhartiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election in-charge for the state, announced that the party has started selecting candidates for the polls. Chauhan expressed confidence in the party’s preparations and criticized the current alliance of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress.

Chauhan stated, “We have begun our proceedings to elect candidates. For the first phase, we have taken the advice of our party members. In the first week of October, we will hold an election committee meeting and then make decisions.” He added, “Preparations are in full swing. The excitement among the people in Amit Shah’s rally was amazing. People are tired of the dishonest and corrupt government of the alliance and ready for change.”

When asked about the BJP’s manifesto for Jharkhand, Chauhan mentioned that the government will focus on empowering women, assuring jobs for youth, and contributing to the welfare of farmers and the poor. “We do what we say. We are presenting 100 days of work before the people. We will focus on the financial empowerment of our sisters, youth employment, and assure farmers and poor people’s welfare,” he said.

Regarding Amit Shah’s visit to Jharkhand and the launch of the BJP’s Parivartan Yatra for the elections, Chauhan said, “The excitement among the people was amazing.” Amit Shah, in his address, condemned the Hemant Soren government for rampant corruption and urged the people of Jharkhand to vote for a government that supports farmers and increases employment opportunities. Shah emphasized that the proposed change extends beyond merely replacing the Chief Minister. “The change is not just about bringing the BJP government in place of JMM and Congress. The change is to remove this corrupt government and bring a government that will stop corruption,” he asserted, highlighting the need to protect tribal culture. “The change has to be brought about by removing the government that is destroying the tribal girls and their culture at the hands of the intruders,” Shah said.

Jharkhand is set to witness an election to the 81-member legislative assembly later this year as the current government’s tenure ends in 2024. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the dates.
