Shiv Sena Leader Sanjay Raut Demands Chandiwal Commission Report Be Made Public

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 5: Amid the ongoing feud between Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and NCP leader Anil Deshmukh, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has demanded that the Chandiwal Commission report be revealed to the public.

Raut’s Accusations

During a press conference, Raut criticized Fadnavis, stating, “We have seen what happened about the ‘chakravyuh’ in the Lok Sabha elections. Maharashtra doesn’t take Fadnavis’s statements seriously these days. The way Anil Deshmukh has exposed Devendra Fadnavis, now Fadnavis needs the help of a jailed criminal who is accused in a bomb blast and murder case.”

Raut further alleged that the Maharashtra government is making excuses to not reveal the Chandiwal Commission report. He emphasized the importance of making the 1400-page report public, which contains explosive information.

Deshmukh’s Challenge

Former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh also challenged Deputy CM Fadnavis to make the report public. Deshmukh claimed that when he was the Home Minister, a bomb was placed in a car near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s house, and the car’s owner was later murdered. He accused Parambir Singh of being the mastermind behind these incidents and alleged that Fadnavis supported Singh to topple the government.

Background of the Chandiwal Commission

The Chandiwal Commission conducted an inquiry for eleven months to investigate allegations against Deshmukh, following claims by Mumbai police commissioner Parambir Singh that Deshmukh directed police officials to collect Rs 100 crore per month from bar owners. Sachin Waze, a dismissed Mumbai Assistant Police Inspector, also accused in the Rs 100 crore extortion case, claimed to have evidence of alleged bribes taken by Deshmukh.

Waze is the prime accused in the 2021 Antilia bomb scare and the Mansukh Hiren murder case. He was arrested by the NIA in March 2021. Deshmukh was arrested by the ED in 2021 in an alleged money laundering case and spent several months in jail. The CBI had registered a corruption case against Deshmukh, who later secured bail.
