Shikhar Dhawan Joins MLB’s ‘HotShots’ Series in India
Major League Baseball (MLB) has teamed up with former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan for a new reality sports series called ‘HotShots’, which highlights the growth of baseball in India. The series, launching on October 25, 2024, features Dhawan, Adam Jones, a 5-time All-Star slugger, and sports presenter Jatin Sapru. ‘HotShots’ is a collaboration with Disney Star and explores whether India’s top amateur cricketers can hit home runs as far as they can hit sixes. The series will test the batting skills of 10 amateur players, with the winner receiving Rs 15 lakh. Dhawan and Jones will coach the contestants. This series follows last year’s ‘Indian Baseball Dreams’, which told the story of Arjun Nimmala, the first-generation Indian American selected in the first round of the MLB Draft in 2023. The series release coincides with the start of the 120th World Series on October 26, featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets. Dhawan expressed excitement about the competition, highlighting the potential for baseball to grow in India. Adam Jones also shared his thoughts on baseball’s future in the country.
