The first Sharjah Literature Festival was officially opened by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority. The festival, held under the patronage of H.H. With the theme 'Emirati Tales Inspire the Future,' the festival features nine core themes and various events. It supports Emirati publishers and strengthens the UAE's publishing sector. Sheikha Bodour expressed pride in launching this cultural event, emphasizing its role in connecting past and present stories to inspire progress.
The opening ceremony, presented by author Sheikha Al Mutairi, included visual and musical arts. Artist Abdullah Alastad showcased Arabic calligraphy, while poet Zigzag Ghanem recited captivating poetry.
Running until January 21, the festival includes a book fair with 41 Emirati publishers, 20 cultural programs, eight workshops, and five daily musical performances. Visitors can enjoy shopping and dining experiences from over 10 restaurants.
