Sharjah Consultative Council’s New Session Inauguration

Under the guidance of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, will open the second session of the 11th legislative term of the Sharjah Consultative Council. This event is set for Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Council’s headquarters.

Achievements of the First Session

During the first session, from December 2023 to June 2024, the Council held 12 public meetings. They discussed five important draft laws and three general topics related to various departments, such as the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. These discussions resulted in 20 recommendations aimed at improving services and development in Sharjah.

Active Participation and Contributions

The sessions saw active involvement from both male and female members, with 55 members speaking and 150 contributions made. Members asked 144 questions to enhance transparency and government oversight. There were 95 notable contributions regarding draft laws.

Committee Activities

The Council’s committees, covering areas like Legal Affairs, Economic Affairs, and Health, held 49 meetings to discuss topics and create recommendations. They conducted 22 field visits to assess progress in various institutions. The Bureau of the Council also held five meetings to coordinate efforts.

Proposals and Complaints

In its first session, the Council received 39 development proposals and addressed 61 complaints, both personal and electronic.
