Shehzad Poonawalla Criticizes Opposition’s Reaction to PM Modi’s Unity Message

New Delhi, India – October 31

On the occasion of National Unity Day, Bharatiya Janata Party’s national spokesperson, Shehzad Poonawalla, accused the opposition of undermining Sardar Patel’s achievements. He criticized their reaction to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Kevadia, Gujarat, where the PM emphasized ‘One Nation, One Election’ as a message of unity.

Poonawalla stated, “Today, on Diwali and Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary, PM Modi reiterated the unity message, which was essentially Sardar Patel’s message.” He accused the opposition of disrespecting Patel and labeling the unity message as communal.

Poonawalla further accused the opposition of following a divide-and-rule policy, likening them to the British. He claimed their agenda is to create division and chaos in India.

Earlier, PM Modi paid tribute to Sardar Patel, highlighting his role in uniting India. The PM emphasized the government’s commitment to national unity and the concept of ‘One Nation, One Election’ to strengthen democracy.

However, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge dismissed the idea as ‘impossible,’ stating that it requires consensus in parliament.
