Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh Retained by Punjab Kings for IPL 2025
Chandigarh, Punjab – Shashank Singh, a powerful batter, is thrilled to continue with the Punjab Kings for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). After a remarkable performance in IPL 2024, where he scored 354 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 164.65 and an average of 44.25, Punjab Kings decided to retain him. Shashank is one of only two players retained by the team, alongside wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh.

Looking forward to IPL 2025, Shashank is excited to work with the new head coach, Ricky Ponting. “Working with Ricky Ponting sir will be incredible. He’s a legend, and I’m keen to learn under his guidance,” Shashank said. Ponting, a former Australian captain, will start his role in the 2025 season. He was approached by several teams but chose Punjab Kings to tackle the coaching instability challenge.
Ponting will be the third head coach for Punjab Kings in four seasons, following a ninth-place finish in IPL 2024. The team has not reached the playoffs since 2014, when they were runners-up. Shashank is determined to help the team succeed in the upcoming season, stating, “As a professional, you must give 100 per cent. The trust Punjab Kings and the fans have shown in me makes it my duty to double my efforts and aim for the championship.”
