Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has been recognized for its efforts in sustainable development by receiving a global certificate from PrintReleaf Standard. This recognition comes as a result of SEWA’s initiative, in collaboration with Xerox Emirates, to participate in a global reforestation program.

From January 1 to May 31, 2024, SEWA successfully planted 115 trees in exchange for the paper used in printing. Majid Huraimel Al Shamsi, Director of SEWA General Department of Institutional Support, received the certificate from Mahmoud Al Yahya, General Manager of Xerox UAE, on behalf of PrintReleaf Standard.

Majid Huraimel Al Shamsi emphasized that this achievement reflects SEWA’s commitment to environmental preservation and social responsibility, in line with the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Ahmed Hussein Abdullah Al Hammadi, Head of the Services and Technical Support Department at SEWA, explained that participating in the global reforestation initiative helps reduce carbon emissions. The PrintReleaf Standard program plants trees in various regions worldwide based on the amount of paper used in printing.

SEWA is also working towards electronic transformation to reduce paper consumption, educating employees on the importance of minimizing paper use, and participating in initiatives to preserve the environment until it reaches zero paper usage.
