The Indian badminton duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty started their Paris Olympics journey with a victory over France’s Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar. They won the men’s doubles Group C match 21-17, 21-14 in just 46 minutes.

Next, Satwiksairaj and Chirag will compete against Germany’s Marvin Seidel and Mark Lamsfuss on July 29.

India has sent 117 athletes to compete in 16 disciplines at the Paris Olympics, which began on July 26 and will end on August 11. The country aims to surpass its previous tally of seven medals from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Other Indian Athletes Shine

Harmeet Desai advanced to the Round of 64 in men’s singles table tennis after defeating Jordan’s Zaid Abo Yaman 4-0.

In badminton, Lakshya Sen won against Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon 21-8, 22-20 in the men’s singles Group L match.

Manu Bhaker qualified for the final in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event, finishing third in the qualification round with a total of 580-27x points. However, her teammate Rhythm Sangwan did not make it to the final, finishing in 15th place.

In the men’s 10-meter air pistol competition, Indian shooters Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Cheema also failed to qualify for the final round.
