Sarabjot Singh and Manu Bhaker Win Bronze at Paris Olympics 2024
Paris [France], July 30 (ANI): Shooter Sarabjot Singh and India’s shooting ace Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal in the mixed team 10 m air pistol event at the Paris Olympics 2024. This victory is significant as it marks Bhaker’s second medal at the same Olympics, making her the first Indian woman to achieve this feat.
Speaking about the win, Sarabjot Singh said, “It feels great that I have won an Olympic medal for the first time for my country. I gave my best. I hope I will give my best in the next Olympics.” He also described the feeling of standing on the podium as a “next level vibe” and something that gave him goosebumps.
Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh secured the bronze by defeating South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin with a score of 16-10 in the bronze medal play-off match. Both Bhaker and Sarabjot shot consistently with regular 10s in the series against the Koreans.
Earlier, Bhaker had won a bronze medal in the women’s individual 10 m air pistol event. The duo’s partnership began in the 2019 nationals, and they have won numerous medals together since then. Despite not talking much due to different event timings, they encouraged each other to give their best before the match.
In the qualification round of the mixed team 10 m air pistol event, each member of a team shot a total of 30 shots in 30 minutes. Manu-Sarabjot finished with a final score of 580-20x, securing their place in the medal rounds.
