Mumbai, Maharashtra: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut held a press conference on Monday to discuss the upcoming Maharashtra elections scheduled for November 20. Raut addressed the seat-sharing formula of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, stating that the matter would be finalized by the evening. He clarified that there was no delay from the Congress, as decisions are made by their high command in Delhi.
Raut emphasized that every party has the right to voice their opinions, but sacrifices are necessary when it comes to seat sharing. He noted that the party’s alignment did not sit well with the BJP, which he described as an international party. Raut stated that the MVA prioritizes national interest and works for the benefit of Maharashtra.
On October 20, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of 99 candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections. Maharashtra has 288 Assembly seats, with the BJP part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance alongside the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar-led NCP. As the election day approaches, both the Mahayuti alliance and the opposition MVA, which includes the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress, are intensifying their preparations, including seat-sharing discussions.
