Political Leaders Meet at Matoshree for Maharashtra Elections

On October 19, key political figures gathered at Matoshree in Mumbai to discuss the upcoming Maharashtra elections. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, Vinayak Raut, and Congress election in-charge Ramesh Chenninthala met with Uddhav Thackeray to talk about seat-sharing within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. Congress President Nana Patole was also present.

Discussions on Seat-Sharing

Sanjay Raut informed the media that discussions, which had been paused, would resume at 3 p.m. and were expected to conclude by late night. The Samajwadi Party was also involved, with talks held between Uddhav Thackeray and Akhilesh Yadav.

Health and Unity of MVA

Ramesh Chenninthala assured that Uddhav Thackeray’s health was fine after a recent hospital visit and confirmed the unity within the MVA. He stated, “We will have discussions on seat sharing again at 3 pm today.”

Maha Vikas Aghadi vs. Mahayuti

The MVA, consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena-UBT, and NCP-SP, is preparing to face the ruling Mahayuti alliance of BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) in the upcoming elections. The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with vote counting on November 23.

Previous Election Results

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly polls, the MVA coalition won 154 out of 288 seats. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, MVA secured 30 out of 48 seats, while the ruling alliance won 17.
