Sabeera Haris Wins Bronze at ISSF Junior World Cup in Italy
Sabeera Haris won a bronze medal in the women’s trap event at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Porpetto, Italy. She shot 29 out of her first 40 final targets, finishing behind Sofia Gori of Italy, who won silver with 39 hits, and Carey Garrison of the USA, who won gold with 40 hits.
Sabeera qualified from a field of 38 with a score of 113 and defeated Sofia in a shoot-off to decide fifth and sixth spots. She started strong in the final but missed three targets in a row. She recovered by missing only three of her next 18 targets, putting her back in contention. However, she missed six of her next 15 targets, ultimately securing the bronze medal.
Other Indian participants in the junior women’s trap included Bhavya Tripathi, who finished 26th with a score of 102, and Rajkuwar Ingle, who finished 33rd with a score of 100.
In the junior men’s trap competition, Arya Vansh Tyagi narrowly missed the title round, finishing eighth after a shoot-off. He scored 119 but missed his second shoot-off target. Eduard Salichs of Spain won the shoot-off and went on to win bronze. Riccardo Mirabile of Italy won gold. Shardul Vihaan and Bakhtyaruddin M Malek finished 19th and 34th with scores of 115 and 112, respectively.
