Russia Claims Control of Selydove Amidst Ongoing Conflict in Ukraine
On October 30, the Russian Defence Ministry announced that it has taken control of the Ukrainian town of Selydove in the Donetsk region. Selydove, located southeast of Pokrovsk, was a key defense point for Ukraine. Russian forces have been advancing towards Selydove over the past weeks as part of their military campaign in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian officials have not yet responded to these claims.
Vitaliy Milovidov, spokesperson for the 15th Brigade National Guard, reported that Selydove had been under constant attack from multiple directions. He noted that Russia is not destroying the town's infrastructure, possibly to use it as a future foothold.
Russian state media released footage of troops raising the Russian flag in Selydove. Meanwhile, Russia continued aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities, resulting in casualties and damage, including the Derzhprom building in Kharkiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the involvement of North Korean troops in Russia, stating that the conflict is becoming international. He discussed with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol about increasing cooperation and intelligence sharing in response to North Korea's involvement.
