Bridgetown [Barbados], June 30: Indian cricket legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have announced their retirement from T20 Internationals. Allrounder Hardik Pandya expressed that winning the T20 World Cup 2024 is the best farewell for these two giants of Indian cricket.

Rohit Sharma’s Achievements

Rohit Sharma, with 4231 runs in 159 games, is the highest scorer in T20Is. He holds the record for the most hundreds (five) in T20 internationals and has won two T20 World Cups, one in 2007 as a player and the latest in 2024 as captain.

Virat Kohli’s Achievements

Virat Kohli, the second-highest T20I run-scorer with 4,188 runs, is also the highest run-getter in T20 World Cup history with 1292 runs. He decided to retire after the T20 World Cup 2024 victory.

Final Match Highlights

In the final match, India won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite an early setback at 34/3, a partnership between Virat Kohli (76) and Axar Patel (47) helped India reach 176/7. South Africa’s chase was thwarted by Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, who restricted them to 169/8. Virat Kohli was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his performance.
