India’s built environment sector, which includes construction, real estate, and infrastructure, is growing rapidly. This growth is driven by investments in housing, urban infrastructure, and various development projects. As a result, there are many opportunities for architects and engineers to advance their careers.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) School of Built Environment (SBE) is playing a key role in this transformation. According to Ashwani Awasthi, Managing Director, South Asia, RICS, the institution has been meeting the industry’s demand for skilled professionals for years. Each year, RICS SBE graduates are equipped with the standards and guidelines of RICS, making them highly sought-after by employers.

For example, Tushar Nagare, a civil engineer who completed the MBA Construction Economics and Quantity Surveying (CEQS) programme from RICS SBE, has seen his salary rise by over 330 percent in six years. He now works as a cost manager at Turner & Townsend.

Divyansh Gupta, a nanotechnology engineer, transitioned into real estate after completing the MBA in Real Estate and Urban Infrastructure (REUI) programme at RICS SBE. He is now a Director of Advisory Services at Reliant Surveyors and has seen a salary increase of over 500 percent in five years.
